Picking the best cabin on the Carnival Splendor

To avoid any surprises when you open the door to your cabin on the Carnival Splendour, it is a good idea to know a little bit about the staterooms. Having information about the sizes and features of the rooms on each deck will help you choose which stateroom will best suit your needs. All standard staterooms are seven feet from the floor to the ceiling. Each bathroom measures four feet by six feet. Bathrooms located within the suites are slightly larger at four and a half by seven and a half feet. All doorways are twenty-two inches wide by six foot eight inches high. Standard staterooms will be either 185 square feet or 220 square feet with a four foot by four foot window, four foot by three foot window, or a 17 inch porthole. Windows are tinted to help prevent other guests from seeing in, but it is recommended that you close the curtains during the night for added privacy. Some staterooms come with a balcony. Standard balconies are 35 square feet, while extended balconies are 60 square feet. Wrap around balconies are slightly larger, measuring 75 square feet. Suites will have more room than the standard staterooms. A Junior Suite with Standard Balcony is 275 square feet with a 35 square foot balcony. All Ocean Suites with Large Balcony are 275 square feet with a 65 square foot balcony. A Modified Ocean Suite with Large Balcony measures 450 square feet with a 110 square foot balcony. The Cloud 9 Spa Suite with Large Balcony is 275 square feet with a 65 square foot balcony. The Grand Suite with Large Balcony is 345 square feet with an 85 square foot balcony. All of the above mentioned suites include a five and a half foot by four foot window.

All beds onboard the Carnival Splendour will be fitted with the exclusive Carnival Comfort Bed ensemble. This includes a 100 percent hypoallergenic duvet and cover, custom pillows, and ultra-fine, ring-spun, satin striped cotton blend pillowcases and mattress set. For those with allergy problems, there is an alternative bedding available. This would include a 100 percent polyester blanket, 60 percent cotton and 40 percent polyester sheet and pillowcase set, and the 100 percent cotton New Generation Pillows. All beds have a six and a half inch mattress, except for the trundle beds and rollaway beds. They have a 4 inch mattress.

Bed Sizes

Twin beds measure 78 inches by 33 inches, and they can be converted into a king size bed. A single sofa bed is 75 inches long by 32 inches wide. Double sofa beds are 81 inches by 55 inches. Trundle beds measure 73 inches by 29 inches with a 250 pound weight limit. Rollaway beds are 75 inches by 29 inches. Upper berths are 78 inches by 33 inches. They come with a 50 inch long by 6 inch high safety rail, as they are 58 inches from the floor. They also have a 250 pound weight limit, and they rest 27 inches below the ceiling. Trundle beds and upper berths are best suited for children and small adults, due to their size and weight limits.

Carnival Splendour staterooms are located among eight decks.

Carnival Splendor Riviera Deck (1)

The Riviera Deck has cabins located above it, making this one of the quieter areas onboard. Rooms 1414-1457 may pick up some vibrations from the ship’s propellers. Staterooms 1353, 1420, and 1431 are all near elevators and could be slightly louder due to the foot traffic from other guests. If you are looking for a room that is slightly bigger than most, cabins 1446 and 1457 will fit your needs. The rooms that have two portholes instead of a window are 1201, 1202, 1205, 1206, 1209, 1210, 1214, and 1215.

Carnival Splendor Main Deck (2)

The Main Deck is situated below the dining room and main lounge area. Cabins at this level may be noisier due to this fact, but many guests don’t find it to be a problem because they are not in their rooms during the busiest times of day. Cabins 2474-2477 have wonderful aft facing views. Staterooms 2470, 2473, 2474, and 2477 are odd shaped, making them a little roomier. Cabins 2201 and 2202 are also great choices for those wanting extra space. Rooms 2446 and 2449 have obstructed views due to a gondola that houses the cleaning machinery. Staterooms 2211, 2212, 2216, 2217, 2220, and 2221 have two portholes instead of a window.

Carnival Splendor Upper Deck (6)

The Upper Deck is just above many of the public areas, including the casinos, stage, lounges, bar, and dance club. This results in the rooms at this level being louder than most. Staterooms 6270-6483 are the loudest. Cabins 6207 and 6208 are slightly bigger than average. Rooms 6452, 6454, 6456, 6491, 6489, and 6487 have rear facing balconies that are less windy than most. Some of them are oversized as well. Staterooms 6360, 6387, 6416, and 6451 are located near elevators and may pick up extra noise from foot traffic. The largest rooms on this deck are 6450 and 6484. Staterooms with non-converting twin beds are 6205 and 6206. The only cabins with obstructed views are 6201-6206.

Carnival Splendor Empress Deck (7)

The Empress Deck is home to the most expensive cabins on board. There are decks both above and below this one that buffer noises from public areas. Extended aft balconies with great views can be had in rooms 7440, 7442, 7444, 7446, 7455, 7553, 7451, and 7449. Large extended balconies are in rooms 7438 and 7447. Staterooms 7336 and 7408 are near an ele;vator and may pick up extra noise. The two rooms that have non-converting twin beds are 7205 and 7206. Grand Suites with a shower and whirlpool tub combination are 7288, 7291, 7294, 7297, 7300, 7303, 7306, 7309, 7312, and 7317. Ocean suites with this feature are 7226, 7230, 7231, 7233, 7236, 7239, 7240, 7243, 7246, 7248, 7249, 7253, 7264, 7266, 7267, 7268, 7269, 7270, 7271, 7272, 7273, 7274, 7275, 7277, 7278, 7281, 7282, 7285, 7318, 7322, 7323, 7327, 7328, 7330, 7333, and 7335. Cabin 7226 has a roll in shower and whirlpool tub. Cabins 7201-7206 have obstructed views.

Carnival Splendor Verandah Deck (8)

Half of the Verandah Deck is located under cabins, while the other half is under a pool and dining areas. Staterooms under the pool may have noise from lounge chairs being dragged across the floor during nightly cleaning. Those rooms under cabins will be quieter. Rooms 8201-8257 are the quietest. The staterooms with extended balconies are 8446-8457. The largest balconies on this deck are found with rooms 8448 and 8459.

Carnival Splendor Lido Deck (9)

No public areas are above or below this deck, making it quieter than most. Rooms on this level are close to the pool and casual eateries. If swimming is top on your to do list, rooms 9296 and 9295 are closest to the pool. Balcony suites with larger rooms are 9206 and 9205. The balconies are forward facing and may be breezier than many others. These are both Junior Suites with a shower and whirlpool tub combination. Rooms 9201-9203 have obstructed views.

Carnival Splendor Panorama Deck (10)

Staterooms on the Panorama Deck are located close by the pool, gym, and spa. The spa facility and spa cabins are above this level, and there are no public areas underneath. Noises from other places are at a minimum. Cabins 1054-1085 are directly under the spa, making them far less noisy than others. Rooms 1084 and 1085 may pick up some sound from the pool and Seaside Theatre. Rooms 1024, 1025, 1028, and 1029 are all Cloud 9 Spa Suites with a shower and whirlpool tub combination. Obstructed views are in rooms 1001-1004.

Carnival Splendor Spa Deck (11)

This is the deck where the Spa Carnival Staterooms are located. Rooms on this level are nearby the Spa Carnival facilities. The adult only Serenity Retreat, Flotation Room, V.I.P. Suites, and Mud Treatment facilities are on the deck above. Spa rooms have the added benefit of balconies and a quiet area onboard. All rooms are non- smoking. Rooms 1116 and 1117 are closest to the pool, and they are slightly larger than others.
